1. Acceptance of these Terms
1.1 Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are issued by Sauce, an independent software project, and govern access to and use of Sauce, including the Sauce Discord bot, dashboard, websites, Sauce ID, Sauce Club, related APIs, applications, paid plans, experimental features and any other official Sauce service (collectively, the “Services”). By inviting, installing, accessing, authorizing, purchasing or using any Service, you agree to these Terms.
1.2 Authority
If you use Sauce on behalf of a Discord server, organization, company or other entity, you confirm that you have authority to bind that entity and to configure the Services for its members.
1.3 Non-acceptance
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Services and must remove Sauce from any server under your control.
2. Definitions
2.1 “Account”
A Discord account or Sauce dashboard session used to access the Services.
2.2 “Server” or “Guild”
A Discord server on which Sauce is installed or configured.
2.3 “Administrator”
A user with sufficient Discord or Sauce permissions to configure the Services.
2.4 “Content”
Text, images, files, configuration, templates, commands, names, links, media and other material submitted to or generated through the Services.
2.5 “Free”, “Chilli” and “Guacamole”
Sauce service tiers with different limits, features or benefits. Plan content may change as stated in these Terms.
2.6 “LAB”
Experimental, preview or actively developed functionality. LAB is separate from paid plans, although Guacamole may include access and selected servers may receive manual access.
3. Eligibility and Discord requirements
3.1 Discord eligibility
You must be permitted to use Discord under Discord’s applicable terms and age requirements.
3.2 Compliance with Discord
Your use of Sauce must comply with Discord’s current Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Developer Platform rules where relevant, and all other applicable Discord policies.
3.3 Account security
You are responsible for the security of your Discord account, authorized dashboard sessions and server permissions. You must promptly revoke access if credentials or sessions may be compromised.
4. Description of the Services
4.1 General
Sauce provides Discord server management, moderation, automation, welcome systems, tickets, temporary voice channels, analytics, economy, leveling, backups, customization, games and related features.
4.2 Modular availability
The precise features available may depend on plan, server configuration, Discord permissions, location, technical compatibility and LAB access.
4.3 Third-party dependency
Sauce depends on Discord and other infrastructure providers. Features may be unavailable or limited when those providers experience outages, impose limits or change their APIs.
4.4 No guarantee of permanent features
A feature, command, interface, limit or integration may be modified, replaced, suspended or removed when required for security, compliance, maintainability or product development.
5. Server administrators and permissions
5.1 Administrator responsibility
Administrators decide which Sauce modules are enabled and are responsible for ensuring that their configuration complies with applicable law, Discord rules and the server’s own policies.
5.2 Required permissions
Some features require elevated Discord permissions. You should grant only the permissions needed for enabled functionality.
5.3 Member notice
Where local law requires notice or consent for logging, analytics, moderation, backups or automated processing, the Administrator is responsible for providing that notice or obtaining consent.
5.4 Technical notification channel
Administrators may configure a channel for technical notices. Sauce may send important information there, including configuration results, entitlement changes, failures, service incidents and update notices.
6. Acceptable use
6.1 Lawful use
You may use Sauce only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms and Discord’s rules.
6.2 Prohibited conduct
You must not use the Services to facilitate harassment, threats, hate, illegal exploitation, fraud, phishing, malware, credential theft, spam, platform manipulation, privacy violations, unauthorized surveillance or infringement of third-party rights.
6.3 Technical abuse
You must not overload, probe, scrape, reverse engineer, bypass limits, exploit vulnerabilities, interfere with infrastructure, automate unauthorized requests, resell access without permission or create multiple servers or accounts to evade restrictions.
6.4 Harmful configurations
You must not configure automatic moderation, role systems, custom commands, messages or ticket workflows to impersonate Sauce, deceive users, collect sensitive credentials or perform unauthorized actions.
6.5 Enforcement
We may limit, suspend or terminate access, remove configurations, block identifiers or report conduct to Discord or authorities where reasonably necessary.
7. Content and administrator configurations
7.1 Ownership
You retain rights you hold in Content submitted through Sauce.
7.2 Operational license
You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, reproduce, transform and transmit Content solely as needed to operate, secure, support and improve the Services.
7.3 Responsibility
You are responsible for Content you submit or configure and must have the rights and permissions necessary to use it.
7.4 Removal
We may remove or disable Content that violates these Terms, applicable law, Discord policy, third-party rights or service security requirements.
7.5 Feedback
Suggestions, bug reports and feedback may be used without restriction or payment, provided we do not publicly attribute confidential information to you without permission.
8. Moderation, automation and decisions
8.1 Tool, not authority
Sauce provides tools that help Administrators moderate and manage servers. Sauce does not replace human judgment.
8.2 False positives
Automated moderation, spam detection, escalation, filtering and analytics may produce false positives, false negatives or incomplete results.
8.3 Administrator review
Administrators remain responsible for reviewing enforcement actions and ensuring that configured rules are proportionate and lawful.
8.4 Escalation Rule LAB
Any escalation feature marked LAB is experimental and must not be relied upon as the sole basis for high-impact moderation decisions.
9. Analytics and statistics
9.1 Informational purpose
Statistics, heatmaps, activity summaries, inactive member lists, inactive channel lists and insights are provided for informational purposes.
9.2 Accuracy limitations
Statistics may be delayed, incomplete or affected by missing permissions, Discord outages, deleted data, retention settings and technical limitations.
9.3 Administrator actions
Bulk actions based on inactive member or channel reports are performed at the Administrator’s direction. You should review results before removing roles, messaging, kicking, banning, archiving or deleting.
10. Backups and restoration
10.1 Best-effort feature
Backups are a convenience feature and are provided on a best-effort basis.
10.2 Limitations
A backup may not include data that Discord does not expose, content removed before backup, external media, third-party data or features that cannot be recreated through available permissions.
10.3 Restoration risk
Restoration can modify channels, roles, permissions and configurations. Administrators are responsible for reviewing the selected backup and target server.
10.4 Independent copies
Sauce must not be treated as the sole archive of important information. You should maintain independent records where loss would be material.
11. Economy, levels and virtual items
11.1 No monetary value
Virtual currency, XP, levels, items, badges, achievements and rewards created within Sauce have no cash value unless expressly stated otherwise.
11.2 No financial service
Sauce does not provide banking, investment, gambling, custody or money transmission services.
11.3 Administrator control
Administrators control many economy and leveling settings and are responsible for preventing abusive, deceptive or unlawful use.
11.4 Adjustments
Balances, XP, rewards or virtual items may be corrected, rolled back or removed in cases of error, abuse, exploit, corruption or restoration.
12. Sauce Club and games
12.1 Entertainment
Sauce Club games are provided for entertainment.
12.2 No real-money gambling
Unless a separate legally compliant service and separate terms explicitly state otherwise, Sauce Club must not be used for real-money gambling, wagering or prizes requiring unlawful consideration.
12.3 Game integrity
We may reset games, invalidate outcomes, suspend rooms or correct balances where technical failure or abuse affects fairness.
12.4 Connectivity
Realtime games may be interrupted by disconnections, reconnects, platform limits or service maintenance.
13. Plans, entitlements and limits
13.1 Free tier
The Free tier provides access to selected features subject to published limits.
13.2 Chilli
Chilli generally increases limits and may include features such as Bot Profile and a distinct dashboard theme, as described at purchase or in the current plan table.
13.3 Guacamole
Guacamole generally includes higher limits, advanced functionality, a green dashboard theme and access to LAB, subject to the current plan description.
13.4 LAB access
LAB remains a separate entitlement. Guacamole may automatically include LAB, while selected servers may receive manual LAB access without Guacamole.
13.5 No permanent grandfathering
Unless expressly promised in writing, plan limits and included features are not permanently grandfathered and may change for future billing periods.
13.6 Enforcement of limits
We may block creation of additional resources, disable excess resources after notice, or require deletion or upgrade when a plan limit is exceeded.
14. LAB features
14.1 Experimental status
LAB features are unfinished and may contain defects, security limitations, breaking changes or incomplete documentation.
14.2 Changes and removal
LAB features may be changed, reset, restricted, moved to another plan or removed without prior notice.
14.3 Data compatibility
Data generated by LAB features may not remain compatible with future versions and may be deleted during migrations or testing.
14.4 No reliance
Do not rely on LAB features for critical moderation, legal compliance, financial records, irreplaceable data or uninterrupted operations.
14.5 Access revocation
Manual LAB access may be revoked at any time. Guacamole access to LAB remains subject to the paid plan and these Terms.
15. Purchases, subscriptions and billing
15.1 Pricing
Prices, billing periods, taxes, included limits and payment methods are shown before purchase.
15.2 Renewal
Where a subscription automatically renews, renewal terms will be disclosed at purchase. You authorize recurring charges until cancellation.
15.3 Taxes
You are responsible for applicable taxes unless they are collected and remitted by the payment provider.
15.4 Payment providers
Payments may be processed by third parties. Sauce does not receive or store full payment card details unless explicitly stated.
15.5 Failed payments
We may suspend paid entitlements after a failed, reversed or disputed payment.
15.6 Discord purchase flows
If a purchase uses Discord-supported purchase flows, Discord’s current Paid Services or Monetization terms may also apply.
16. Cancellation and refunds
16.1 Cancellation
You may cancel a subscription through the applicable purchase or billing interface. Cancellation normally prevents future renewal but does not automatically refund the current period.
16.2 Refund policy
Refund eligibility is governed by the separate Sauce Refund Policy, mandatory consumer law and any applicable payment-provider rules.
16.3 Mandatory rights
Nothing in these Terms removes statutory withdrawal, refund, conformity or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
16.4 Abuse and chargebacks
Fraudulent disputes, chargeback abuse or repeated purchase-and-refund behavior may result in suspension.
17. Intellectual property
17.1 Sauce property
Sauce software, branding, visual design, mascot, icons, documentation, interfaces and original content are owned by or licensed to the operator and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
17.2 Limited license
Subject to these Terms, you receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Services for their intended purpose.
17.3 Restrictions
You may not copy, sell, sublicense, rebrand, distribute, create misleading derivative services, remove ownership notices or use Sauce branding to imply endorsement without written permission.
17.4 Open-source components
Open-source components remain governed by their respective licenses.
18. Privacy and data protection
18.1 Privacy Policy
Processing of personal data is described in the Sauce Privacy Policy.
18.2 Administrator role
Depending on the feature and context, a server Administrator may act as an independent controller or determine the purpose of data processing performed through Sauce.
18.3 Requests
Users may submit privacy requests through the contact method published in the Privacy Policy.
18.4 Sensitive data
Do not intentionally submit passwords, authentication tokens, payment credentials, government identifiers, health data or other unnecessary sensitive information through Sauce.
19. Security
19.1 Reasonable safeguards
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards but cannot guarantee absolute security.
19.2 Reporting vulnerabilities
Suspected vulnerabilities must be reported privately through the official security or support contact. Public disclosure before a reasonable remediation period may result in access restrictions.
19.3 No exploitation
Testing must not access other users’ data, disrupt production, create persistent access or exceed the scope expressly authorized by us.
20. Availability, maintenance and changes
20.1 No uptime guarantee
Unless a separate written service-level agreement applies, the Services are provided without a guaranteed uptime or response time.
20.2 Maintenance
We may perform planned or emergency maintenance and may temporarily disable features.
20.3 Updates
We may update the Services automatically, including changes required by Discord, security issues, infrastructure providers or legal obligations.
20.4 Discontinuation
We may discontinue all or part of the Services. Where reasonably practical, we will provide notice for material discontinuation of paid features.
21. Suspension and termination
21.1 By you
You may stop using the Services by removing Sauce, revoking authorization and cancelling subscriptions.
21.2 By us
We may suspend or terminate access for breach, abuse, security risk, legal requirement, non-payment, platform enforcement or material operational risk.
21.3 Immediate action
Serious abuse, fraud, credential theft, attacks, child exploitation or risk to users may lead to immediate termination without prior notice.
21.4 Effect
After termination, entitlements end and data may be deleted in accordance with the Privacy Policy and retention schedule.
21.5 Survival
Sections that by their nature should survive termination remain effective, including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and disputes.
22. Disclaimers
22.1 As-is basis
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available”.
22.2 No warranties
We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy and uninterrupted operation, except where such disclaimers are prohibited.
22.3 Third parties
We are not responsible for Discord, hosting providers, payment processors, external links, third-party integrations or content controlled by others.
22.4 Administrator configurations
We are not responsible for harm caused by an Administrator’s configuration, permissions, moderation decisions, bulk actions, custom commands or content.
23. Limitation of liability
23.1 Excluded losses
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary or punitive damages, or loss of profits, goodwill, data, business opportunity or reputation.
23.2 Liability cap
To the maximum extent permitted by law, aggregate liability relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to Sauce during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim or (b) EUR 50.
23.3 Mandatory law
The exclusions and cap do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence where non-excludable, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable.
23.4 Consumer rights
Consumer protections that cannot be waived remain unaffected.
24. Indemnity
24.1 Scope
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the operator and contributors from claims, losses, liabilities and reasonable costs arising from your Content, configuration, unlawful use, infringement, breach of these Terms or actions taken through your server.
24.2 Consumer limitation
This section does not apply to consumers to the extent prohibited by mandatory law.
25. Governing law and disputes
25.1 Required completion
The governing law, competent courts and any alternative dispute-resolution process must be completed after legal review and before publication.
25.2 Informal resolution
Before filing a claim, you should contact us and provide a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue informally.
25.3 EU consumers
EU consumers may retain mandatory rights to bring claims in their country of residence and use applicable consumer-dispute mechanisms.
25.4 No unauthorized arbitration clause
This draft intentionally does not impose binding arbitration or a class-action waiver. Such clauses require jurisdiction-specific legal review.
26. Changes to these Terms
26.1 Updates
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Services, plans, law, security, infrastructure or business operations.
26.2 Notice
Material changes will be communicated through the website, dashboard, technical notification channel, support server or other reasonable means.
26.3 Continued use
Continued use after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance where permitted by law. If you do not accept the changes, you must stop using the Services.
27. General provisions
27.1 Entire agreement
These Terms, together with incorporated policies and purchase-specific terms, form the agreement governing the Services.
27.2 Order of precedence
Specific written terms for a paid plan or feature control over conflicting general terms for that subject.
27.3 Severability
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective and the invalid provision will be interpreted as closely as legally possible to its intended effect.
27.4 No waiver
Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
27.5 Assignment
You may not assign these Terms without written consent. We may assign them as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition or transfer of the Services, subject to applicable law.
27.6 Force majeure
We are not liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond reasonable control, including platform outages, infrastructure failures, attacks, disasters, conflict, labor disruption or government action.
27.7 Language
The English version controls unless mandatory law requires otherwise. Translations may be provided for convenience.
